Objectives The students have knowledge of the basics of empirical economic research and microeconomic theory and know how digital technologies can be used in a business environment to create value. The primary goal is to bring the students to a uniform level of education in the addressed topics.

The students are able to independently apply the basic methods of econometrics and are able to empirically process business and economic problems. They are familiar with the basic principles of mathematical statistics and know the simple methods of causality analysis. They are familiar with the theoretical foundations of microeconomics and with the mathematical methods required for this. They know how decisions under uncertainty are modeled and are familiar with the most important approaches from behavioral economics.

Students are able to analyze business processes and have basic knowledge of how these are supported technically in companies. They know how data is processed and managed in companies and how decision-relevant information can be obtained. They can use simple data science techniques via suitable tools (Python) to support decision-making in companies.

Further information Students who already have expertise in the Python programming language must choose another course worth 6 ECTS from the Principles in Applied Economics, Digital Transformation and Technologies.

Students who have already completed required Principles courses in the bachelor's program may choose from the remaining Principles courses.
