Objectives After completing this course, students will be able to classify and evaluate digital instruments and phenomena of the digitalization in society with regard to both socio-economic and legal factors.
Subject The subject of this course is the analysis of central legal institutions (e.g. fundamental rights, data protection law and liability law) based on selected aspects of the digital society:

  • Digital communication
  • Digital goods and their impact on economic life
  • Autonomous systems (e.g. autonomous vehicles, medical pattern recognition systems)
  • Digital state (e.g. freedom of information vs. protection of secrets)
  • Data as a good vs. data protection
