Objectives Students will engross their knowledge about the macro-aspects in an open economy and increasingly put emphasis on the structure of aggregates, on partial aspects and the intricacy of economic questions and problems. They elaborate autonomously the material contents of up-to-date articles from journals, present them in groups, criticise and discuss them on a sound basis.
Subject Economics as a science - misjudged or well criticised? Labour market problems and policy. Evolving structures of the economy (even regionally) and of the public sector. European Economic and Currency Union, European integration and policy-making in the EU. Financial markets and monetary policy, crises and fighting crises. Public finances (including taxation). Distribution and social affairs, distribution with regard to theory and empirics. Long-term growth.

Methods Moderation for stimuli and guidance, elaborations on selected topics; short presentations and discussion

Study material Selected up-to-date surveys and journal articles from recent literature (in English, being continuously upgraded)
