Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students will be able to conduct hands-on experiments in basic electrochemistry and understand the underlying principles. They will also be able to explain, analyse and present the results of their experiments.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to • understand and conduct basic electrochemical experiments. (k2, k3) • measure and interpret potential in electrochemical systems. (k3, k4) • determine and analyse the conductivity of various solutions. (k3, k4, k5) • operate and troubleshoot experimental stations effectively and safely. (k3, k6) • evaluate and report the experimental findings independently. (k5, k6) Underlying concepts and details of: • Measurement of electrochemical potentials. • Charge transport in electrolyte solutions. • Measurement of pH using potentiometric methods. • Redox titrations using potentiometric techniques. • Reference electrodes in electrochemical measurements.
Criteria for evaluation Oral interviews and successfull operation of each experiment.
Methods Use of Experimental Stations.
