Objectives |
Students become familiar with fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry with a special emphasis on the experiments performed in the “Lab course in Analytical Chemistry”.

Subject |
- Definition and scope of analytical chemistry
- Good laboratory practice for analytical problem-solving
- The different steps involved in a chemical analysis, sampling procedures
- Statistical treatment of analytical data, random errors, systematic errors, data distributions, confidence interval, statistical tests for analytical results
- Commonly used equipment for chemical analysis, requirements for analysis in the laboratory and field analysis
- Qualitative inorganic analysis including selective precipitation reactions for group separation of inorganic cations, specific tests for the detection of single cations, tests for the detection of single anions
- Introduction to basic of quantitatve analysis
- Basic theory of gravimetric analysis, solubility product and precipitation reactions,
- Basic theory of titration procedures, primary standards, differerence between equivalence point and end point
- Calculations of the results from titrations including the standardization of the titrant and the titration of the analysis solution
