OR (particularly for Subject Chemistry): PR Lab Course in General Chemistry VL Inorganic Chemistry II VO Fachdidaktik Chemie
|
Original study plan |
Bachelor's programme Chemistry 2018W |
Objectives |
The students will be trained with research-guided lab experiments for a more advanced, safe and self-responsible practical work in inorganic, organometallic and materials chemistry. They will be able to learn how to deal with air-, moisture- or light-sensitive compounds, and how to safely handle corrosive or toxic compounds in a proper way.
|
Subject |
Advanced practical lab course in modern inorganic chemistry including preparative and spectroscopic aspects of predominately molecular compounds.
Instructive, research-guided examples will be selected from the fields of coordination chemistry, organometallic chemistry, non-metal and main group metal chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry and (photo)catalysis.
|
Criteria for evaluation |
Entrance examination covering the necessary theoretical background, evaluation of the practical work actually carried out (including safety aspects and full documentation of all experiments in the lab protocols), as well as the result of a final oral examination.
|
Methods |
Research-guided chemical lab work including synthesis and product characterization with individual supervision by experienced assistants.
|
Language |
English |
Study material |
Detailed lab instructions and required literature ressources will be provided on an individual basis.
