Objectives Students will learn more about standard business cycle models in a closed and open economy as well as more in depth about international economics; additional emphasis on monetary and fiscal policy, particularly in a crisis, expectations and their impact on economic policy-making as well as a first look at standard growth models. Students will be in a position to effectively tackle issues in macroeconomics and policy.
Subject AS-AD model in a closed and open economy, expectations pertaining to financial and goods markets as well as economic policy; financial and economic crisis, exchange rate systems and their implications for policy-making; monetary and fiscal policy inspected closer, Solow model of growth; a look at New Classical Growth Theory, medium-term consequences for employment
Criteria for evaluation Two written tests (multiple choice), one of which is mandatory (the better result counts)
Bonus points for well-formed, perceptive oral contributions in class
Methods The lecture is based on a textbook and complemented by some additional contents.
