Objectives Students are familiar with (syntax-independent) modern methods of programming. They have basic knowledge in developing algorithms and are capable of object-oriented programming.

Students know architectural concepts of database systems and fundamental concepts of their design process. They know query languages and are familiar with problems and techniques of access protection.

Students can apply statistical software for data analysis. They know how to extend software by own functions and can conceptualise and perform simulation studies.

Subject Introduction to programming and the programming languages JAVA and R

Exploratory data analysis and statistical simulations with SAS and R

Aarchitecture of database management systems; database design process; conceptual data models; physical data organization; database access and access protection in database systems.
