Objectives The aim of this course is to expand students' knowledge of advances in the field of industrial organization and competition economics at the bachelor level. A particular emphesis is put on the application of theoretical models and the discussion and presentation of antitrust cases.
Subject This course covers selected topics in industrial organization and competition economics at the Bachelor level. We discuss basic game theoretical models explaining market behavior in monopolies and oligopolies. We then discuss methods applied in antitrust cases as market definition, estimation of demand functions, calculation of cartel damages and detection of cartels. The lectures are supplemented with case studies to learn how to apply the theoretical and the econometric models to real world situations.
