Objectives
We provide a comprehensive overview of reliability theory areas with practical relevance; ensuring reliability and lifetime of a device from the early concept to the analysis of Markov chains.
A device is assembled from different components. The failure probability of the individual components is known.
Typical questions of reliability theory:
- What is the failure probability of the device?
- What is the distribution of the lifetime of a device?
- Should components still be intact after a certain number of operating hours
be replaced by new ones?
- For which components should spare parts be provided?
- How many spare parts must be available to keep a device operating with a given probability for a certain period of time
can?
