Objectives Successful participants will on completion of the course

  • know the overall design process of web-based information systems (content design, navigation design, presentation design)
  • know about underlying technology of web-based information systems, such as HTML and XML
  • be able to build web-applications accessing database systems
Subject Web Engineering:

  • design process of web-based information systems (content design, navigation design, presentation design)
  • technology of web-based information systems, such as HTML and XML
  • query languages based on XML
  • accessing databases from web-applications
Criteria for evaluation
  • Cooperation during course, especially in practical exercises (SQL, XQuery)
  • Project Work, Home Exercise
  • Final, oral exam
Methods
  • Lectures on database design, database technology, and web engineering paired with practical exercises on relational database design and SQL
  • Project work: Build a database and web site for a given case study.
