Objectives (*)By the end of the course participants will have developed greater understanding of the need for cultural awareness and effectiveness at five key stages of the life cycle of an international project. To support that awareness and effectiveness, they will have identified specific competencies that can be developed and actions that can be taken.
Subject (*)This course will assume understanding and experience of the basic principles of project management. It will focus more on addressing the special challenges of managing projects and partnerships with higher levels of cultural diversity and thus complex people issues involving the goals, values and behaviours of different team members and stakeholders. This cultural focus will build on the work done on leadership, interpersonal communication and human resource practice in previous modules. It will draw on the latest research on the life-cycle of international projects and partnerships while giving the participants the opportunity to link some practical learning back to their personal experience.
