Ziele |
The goal of this seminar is to sensitize students to the issues and challenges involved in cross-cultural business encounters, in other words interactions between managers and subordinates, or between business partners with diverse backgrounds, e.g. cultural, organizational or professional. Students will be confronted with “real” situations via simulations. This requires them to address problems conceptually and behaviourally, including the different understandings of culture. As the business world is becoming more and more virtual, a global business simulation (VIBu) will support the students to acquire skills needed for a global interaction via ICT in nowadays business world.
The aim is to acquire the following skills:
- Awareness of various ways of thinking and behavior in different cultures
- Behavior in intercultural situations
- Acquire skills of virtual communication and collaboration across borders with participants from different universities and cultures worldwide

In order to reach this aim, the below-listed subjects will be addressed:
- Diversity and its facets
- The concept of culture
- Cultural differences and exposure to these differences
- Intercultural interactions; intercultural communication and collaboration
- Virtual multi-cultural teams

The assessment of this course will be made based on four requirements:

The seminar language is English. Attendance is mandatory during ALL class sessions.
