Objectives The course aims to familiarize students with the procedural processes of working with animal tissue cultures. Course objectives include acquiring practical, hands-on experience in cell line cultures in vitro.
Subject Lecture and exercise topics:

1. Types of tissue cultures, cell growth parameters

2. Nutritional requirements, culture media

3. Tissue culture laboratory equipment

4. Primary culture of guinea pig kidney

5. Cell lines, passaging and culture conditions

6. Cell cryopreservation

7. Contamination of cell cultures

8. Interactions of animal viruses with cells, detection of virus replication

9. Monoclonal antibody technology (theory)

10. Immunization of laboratory mice, culture of myeloma cells, preparation of feeder cells

11. Fusion of splenic lymphocytes with myeloma cells and cultivation in the selection medium

12. Cloning and storage of hybridomas

13. Production of monoclonal antibodies in vivo and in vitro.
