Kompetenzen
(*)Students are able to select a topic or case study from the list of relevant events or policy measures in the realm of the seminar. They can select, read, and understand the related academic literature. Depending on the focus of the seminar, students make independent use of a theoretical model or collect data to investigate the selected event or policy measure using a suitable empirical method. Students can present their theoretical or empirical results in a seminar presentation and concisely summarize them in a seminar paper, research or policy brief for executive use.

Seminar Goals: Students are able to independently apply core theoretical and empirical methods in the fields of international, monetary and macroeconomics to the solution of own practical research questions. They obtain and interpret empirical results, draw conclusions and derive recommendations about the consequences and effects of exogenous events or economic policy measures.

Advanced theoretical models suitable for the research question(s) at hand, 3. Advanced empirical research methods suitable for the research question(s) at hand.

The seminar participants and instructor(s) then meet in regular intervals 1. To give brief research pitches on use case(s) selected by the students, 2. Discuss potential issues with the sample, data availability, and methodology, 3. Ensure the progress of the seminar project and discuss preliminary results.
