Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are familiar with in-depth theoretical models and social, (inter)cultural and gender-specific contexts for the topics of the subject “Social and gender-specific aspects of IT” (Bachelor) and can relate these to current developments in information technology, such as artificial intelligence. They are able to take social and gender-specific aspects into account when designing, implementing and operating information systems and technology infrastructures.
Skills Knowledge
  • LO2: Students are able to recognize (K1), understand (K2) and analyze (K4) the connections between digital transformation, society and gender relations.
  • LO3: Students understand the risks and consequences of the use of digital technologies, e.g. social media and artificial intelligence, on the economy and society. (K2)
  • LO4: Students can analyse social contexts of information policy and data security in digitalization. (K4)
  • LO5: They are able to take social and gender-specific aspects into account when designing, implementing and operating information systems and technology infrastructures. (K4)
LO1: Theoretical foundations of influencing society and individuals by means of technologies and digitalization (e.g. nudging, fake news, echo chambers, information bias, social credit system, censorship); risks and ethical aspects of the use of AI (e.g. responsible AI, hallucinations, bias, IPR, system-related wrong decisions); aspects of the digital divide; information policy and data security; social networks; diversity in media; gender and socially fair design of digital systems.
Criteria for evaluation Participation in 75% of the course units; literature research, presentation, handout, and seminar paper.
