Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to select the appropriate manufacturing process for a specific manufacturing task from the fields of machining and forming technology and determine the corresponding process parameters using mathematical models. They are also able to assess the suitability of typical production machines for specific manufacturing tasks based on the design and characteristic properties of such machines and systems.
Skills Knowledge
Specifically, they can

  • understand the basic manufacturing processes of machining and forming production and identify the resulting fields of application (k2, k3).
  • correctly use mathematical models to calculate process parameters and apply them to specific tasks (k3, k4).
  • understand the structure of machine tools and assess and evaluate the resulting suitability for specific manufacturing tasks (k3, k4)
  • understand manufacturing processes such as sintering, welding and soldering and assess their applicability for specific manufacturing tasks (k3, k4)
  • understand and correctly select the properties of surface treatments for steel materials (k2, k3)
  • understand the processes and machines for processing plastics (k2)
  • understand the properties and fields of application for processes for processing metals using laser beams (k2)
  • Overview of important manufacturing processes from the fields of machining and forming technology
  • Machining production (selected processes, machines, calculation)
  • Forming technology (selected processes, machines, calculation)
  • Further selected manufacturing processes (sintering, soldering, welding, spark erosion)
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Surface treatment (coating processes, electrolysis)
  • Plastics (extrusion, injection molding)
  • Manufacturing processes using laser beams
