Detailed information |
Original study plan |
Master's programme Mechatronics 2025W |
Learning Outcomes |
Competences |
Students know and understand the basics of the statics of linear rods, discs, plates and shells, and they are able to treat simple problems with analytical and numerical methods.
|
|
Skills |
Knowledge |
- Understanding the basic governing equations of the classical torsion theories (k2)
- Applying the classical torsion theories to analyse thin-walled rods under torsion (k3, k4)
- Computing and assessing the stress state in discs using the Airy stress function (k5)
- Computing the solution for axi-symmetric plates and shells and assessing the stress state (k5)
- Computing approximate solutions for discs and plates and analysing and assessing the solutions (k4, k5)
|
- Torsion of straight rods: pure torsion, constrained torsion, torsion of rods with thin-walled cross sections
- Discs and plates: Airy stress function, Kirchhoff plate theory, axi-symmetric discs and plates
- Axi-symmetric shells: membrane and bending theory, spherical and cylindrical shells, boiler formula
