Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to independently reduce complex structural-mechanical problems to the critical stresses, calculate them analytically and evaluate them independently on the basis of plastic-specific material behavior.

Skills Knowledge
In particular, they are able to

- identify and calculate essential load cases (e.g. bending, tension, compression, etc.) [k1, k3]

Fundamentals of linear bending, snap hook calculation, instabilities (critical buckling force, critical thermal buckling stress).
Criteria for evaluation An example of a component is to be developed and presented in teamwork using the above methods. Both the content and the presentation aspects are taken into account when grading.
Methods Lecture of the basic aspects of the exercise, joint analytical calculations of exercise examples, exercise examples that are solved in self-study and application of acquired skills in a group work.

This course is held either in German or English in consultation with the students. At least, lecture notes or book recommendations will be provided in German and English. The examination can be taken in either German or English.
