(*)Students are able to carry out the (fracture mechanics) structural integrity assessment of plastic structural components. They understand the underlying methods, can apply them and interpret the results in the context of material behavior and safety assessment.

Explain the fundamentals of fracture mechanics and product life analysis and understand their significance for polymeric structures [k2].

Apply models to describe failure and fracture in polymeric materials and critically scrutinize the results [k3, k5].

Determine the stress intensity factors for different crack lengths [k3]

Explain non-destructive testing methods (NDTE, non-destructive testing and evaluation) [k2].

Work independently on a practical project on a selected topic, including theoretical description, experimental investigations and simulation [k5, k6]
