Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to use a modern CAD system in a targeted and efficient manner in the various phases of the product development process (k3). In doing so, they take into account the requirements of other phases and disciplines (k4). They can independently analyze complex technical and geometric problems (k4) and solve them using advanced modeling techniques (k6). Students are able to plan, implement and present a manageable design project from the idea to the production drawing (k6).
Skills Knowledge
Students can create complex individual components as 3D solid models and make optimum use of the possibilities of a parametric CAD system (k3). They are able to reuse predefined or provided features (k3). They can compile assemblies from individual parts on the basis of geometric and functional dependencies (k4). Students master the concept of top-down modeling in order to create consistent and robust models (k3, k4). They are also able to derive technical 2D drawings from 3D models that contain relevant information such as dimensions, tolerances and manufacturing instructions (k3). Students have a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of modeling three-dimensional objects and the principles of modern CAD systems (k1, k2). They have a solid understanding of the entire product development process and the role of CAD systems in the various phases (k1, k2). They have in-depth knowledge of various modeling techniques, such as solid and surface modeling, parametric design and feature-based design (k2, k3). They are also familiar with the basics of technical drawing derivation and the application of relevant standards for technical drawings (k3).
