Learning Outcomes
Competences
Practical experience with machine elements. Ability to apply sensorics and to conduct experiments with machine elements.
Skills Knowledge
  • Installation and alingment of drive trains on a test bench (k3)
  • Application of incremental encoders and shaft type torque sensors (k3)
  • Use of feedback control for maintaining quasi-static operation modes (k6)
  • Periodic repetititon of test profiles for increased accuracy (k5)
The course focuses on the behavior of machine elements through selected experiments using modern measurement equipment:

  • Fracture experiment on a torsional specimen
  • Friction and heat-up of roller bearings
  • Efficiency of gears (gear drive, belt gear)
  • Start-up and heat-up of journal bearings
  • Kinematic and dynamical transfer behavior of universal joints
