Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to create mathematical models of selected manufacturing processes, carry out simulation tasks and evaluate the results. They are able to assess and evaluate the influence of material parameters on the processability of metals. Furthermore, they are able to carry out economic evaluations of individual manufacturing processes.
Skills Knowledge
Specifically, they can

  • understand the most important processes for the production and processing of semi-finished metal products, components and assemblies (k2).
  • set up mathematical models of manufacturing processes, evaluate them numerically and assess the results (k3, k4).
  • understand and analyze the influences of the material parameters of metallic materials on their processability with certain processes as well as on the quality (properties and their tolerances) of metallic products such as semi-finished products, components, assemblies and products (k2, k3).
  • carry out economic evaluations of manufacturing processes (k3, k4).
  • analyze and evaluate automated manufacturing systems and related current developments in metal processing (k3, k4).
  • Overview of the most important processes for the production and processing of semi-finished metal products, components and assemblies.
  • Processing of metals using selected manufacturing processes: Selection of suitable methods and processes, (mathematical) modeling, simulation, evaluation of simulation results.
  • Properties of metallic materials and their influence on the processability and quality (properties and their tolerances) of metallic products such as semi-finished products, components, assemblies, products.
  • Aspects of the automated processing of metallic materials, e.g: CAD/CAM, production control technology, economic efficiency.
