Learning Outcomes
Competences
Students are able to carry out basic electrical measurements independently and correctly, set up and test measuring circuits and use measuring devices correctly. They can analyze measuring systems and their deviations and interpret the results.
Skills Knowledge
Students are able to

  • select and correctly operate the measuring devices for basic electrical quantities (k3),
  • set up measuring circuits independently and check the functionality of the measuring systems (k5)
  • record the relevant measured variables correctly (k4).
  • determine the measurement deviations and evaluate the accuracy of the measurements (k3, k5),
  • document and interpret measurements (k5)
Students acquire knowledge in the following areas:

  • the application and calibration of measuring instruments, including the identification of measurement deviations and sources of error,
  • the principles and methods of measuring basic electrical quantities (voltage, current, resistance, etc.),
  • the functioning of measuring bridges and their application for the characterization of unknown impedances,
  • the understanding and application of measuring amplifiers in various configurations (e.g. instrumentation amplifiers and amplifiers for strain gauges),
  • the principles of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters and their use in practical measurement tasks,
  • the basics of speed measurement and motor control.
  • Preparation of protocols according to scientific standards.
Criteria for evaluation Continuous assessment during labs; short introductory exams; lab reports; final lab exercise
Methods Independent preparation and implementation of laboratory experiments
