Competences
The courses VO (lectures) Electrical Machines and UE (exercises) Electrical Machines form an inseparable didactic unit. The learning outcomes described below are achieved through the interaction of the two courses.

  • Students are able to understand and calculate the basic electromagnetic relationships of electrical machines.
  • Students will be able to interpret the function and design of selected electrical machines.
Skills Knowledge
  • Apply the basic principles of electromagnetic energy conversion (k3)
  • Analyse and evaluate the operating behaviour of various electrical machines (k4, k5)
  • Calculate and analyse electrical machines and magnetic circuits (k3, k4)
  • Quantitatively and qualitatively assess specific machine types (k5)
  • General principles of electromagnetism
  • Direct current machines
  • Fundamentals of rotating field machines
  • Asynchronous machines
  • Synchronous machines
