Learning Outcomes
Competences
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and apply advanced knowledge in current research topics of nanoscience and nanotechnology. They can critically assess theoretical and experimental methods and results. They are able to evaluate complex scientific information and present the results of their current research.
Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students will possess the following skills. They are able to

  • describe and explain recent research directions and topics in nanoscience and nanotechnology (k2/k3);
  • critically assess and analyze recent research results (k3/k4);
  • present their research to a large audience (k4/k5).
During the course, students will acquire knowledge in concepts and current research in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The topics will vary depending on the speakers of the Nanoforum and will cover:

  • modern tools for nanofabrication;
  • novel nanomaterials and nanostructures;
  • mechanical, electronic and magnetic properties of nanostructures;
  • tools for nanocharacterization and theoretical modelling;
  • nanostructure applications.
Criteria for evaluation To obtain ECTS, students must present their research to the Nanoforum participants. Their presentation will be graded by the organizers of the Nanoforum.
Methods The Nanoforum is a 2-day workshop where external and internal speakers from JKU present their recent research in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
