Learning Outcomes
Competences
After successfully completing the course, students are able to systematically plan, conduct and analyze physical experiments. This includes handling instruments, applying experimental methods correctly and critically interpreting results within the framework of physical theories. Additionally, they are proficient in dealing with measurement uncertainties and using mathematical methods to model physical systems.

The Grundpraktikum Physik IIa is a methodical supplement to the lecture Grundlagen der Physik III and primarily covers topics from waves, optics and photonics.

Skills Knowledge
Upon completing the course, students learn the following skills. They are able to

  • apply basic physical experimentation techniques (k3);
  • use laboratory equipment correctly (k3);
  • carry out data analysis with error estimation (k4);
  • solve problems through analytical thinking (k5-k6);
  • document results scientifically in written form (k1-k5);
  • work in a team.
During the course, students acquire knowledge in the following areas of experimental physics:

  • predominantly waves, optics and photonics;
  • operating principle of measuring instruments;
  • physical quantities, constants and units.
