After successfully completing the course, students will be able to
• explain physical laws such as the conservation of momentum and energy and apply them to simple mechanical problems (relating to point masses, rigid bodies and fluids).
• define physical terms such as momentum, force, torque, energy, work and differentiate them from colloquial terms.
|
By attending the course, students learn to
• identify physical forces and moments in simple physical problems. (K4)
• develop solution strategies for physical problems. (K3)
• describe simple movements (rectilinear or on a circular path) in three-dimensional space using vectors. (K3)
• apply equations of state of gases and interpret state diagrams. (K5)
|
During the course, students acquire knowledge in the following areas of physics:
• Kinematics
• Dynamics
• Gravity
• Fluids and (ideal and van der Waals-)gases
