Competences |
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to
- read notation used in calculus textbooks
- understand the most important properties of sequences and real valued
functions.

Students learn the following skills:
- solving problems involving real numbers, sets of numbers and real
valued functions
- computing solutions of equations by approximation
- computing limits of sequences and real valued functions
- differentiating functions
- deciding convergence behaviour of series
- determining local maxima and minima of real valued functions
- using induction to prove relations between arithmetic terms.

Students learn the following concepts from analysis:
- basic notions of elementary set theory
- the hierarchy of number systems and cardinality
- the real continuum
- infimum and supremum
- the concepts of inner point and adhaerent point
- limits of sequences and functions
- continuity and differentiability.
