  • LO1: Students are able to use the basic knowledge of strategic management they have acquired for themselves and for real companies. They can determine appropriate perspectives for specific cases, select and use suitable concepts and methods of strategic management throughout the entire process, and explain their suitability.

  • LO2: Students can understand a strategic starting point, develop and evaluate strategic options, and prepare and manage strategy implementation.
  • LO3: Students can apply selected strategy tools and management methods in different roles as part of an individual strategy process and critically reflect on their advantages and disadvantages as well as possible uses in companies and organizations.
  • LO4: Students are able to examine and argue the suitability of different perspectives of strategic management for a specific company.
  • LO5: Students are able to understand the complexity of strategy processes and demonstrate the possible uses and limitations of selected strategy tools and management methods.

  • LO6: Students expand and combine the perspectives, theories, models and methods of strategic management from the Strategic Leadership minor.
  • LO7: Students know and understand the basic possibilities and challenges in the conception of case-specific strategy processes.
Criteria for evaluation A total of 150 points can be achieved in this course.

  • Active participation (individual performance) in the strategy process at individual level (max. 40 points)
  • Reflection paper (individual performance) on a peer coaching session (max. 20 points)
  • Argumentation paper (individual performance) on case-specific perspective selection (max. 20 points)
  • Active participation (individual performance) in working on the real case study (max. 10 points)
  • Seminar paper (group performance): Strategy Process Evaluation (max. 60 points)

Minimum requirement: 50% of the total points

Feedback: Constructive feedback both within the course and on each individual written individual and group performance.

Methods To achieve the teaching and learning objectives, different methods are used in the flipped classroom format and peer coaching setting:

  • Self-directed learning with the help of given literature and materials
  • Theory-based, interactive learning in peer groups in the roles of coach, coachee and reflecting partner including reflection and feedback in the plenary session
  • Concise impulses, interactive exercises and intensive discussions in different formats
  • Theory-based application of strategy know-how for a real company in small teams
