This seminar is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of research methods in the fields of organization, innovation and entrepreneurship. It builds upon foundational entrepreneurship knowledge and equips students with the skills to design, conduct, and present small-scale research projects. Through the seminar, students will explore research processes in social science, data collection and analysis, and academic writing. The course emphasizes teamwork, peer learning, and the development of presentation skills for a scientific context.

Learning Outcomes

  • LO4: Understand the research process in social sciences, particularly in innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • LO5: Learn about various data collection techniques and appropriate methods for analysis.
  • LO6: Comprehend the principles of academic writing, including structuring arguments, referencing sources, and building a logical narrative in research.
Criteria for evaluation
  • Research Project: Students will design and conduct a research project. The final output will be a presentation where students present their findings in front of an audience.
  • Seminar Assignment: A short paper or presentation of the proposed research project. This assignment helps students prepare for their term paper and ensures they have a clear direction for their research project.
  • Term Paper: The final written seminar thesis, where students present their project and findings and discuss its relevance. The paper must adhere to academic writing standards, include proper citations, and demonstrate a clear argument based on research findings.
Methods
  • Interactive sessions: Students will synthesize, discuss and challenge different stages of the research process based on a current research project or published research.
  • Peer Coaching: Structured feedback sessions where students will provide and receive feedback on each other’s work to enhance the quality of their research.
  • Presentations: Students will present their research findings to the class, developing their scientific communication skills.
