Ziele (*)By the end of the semester, students will be able to

  • Understand the theoretical basics of labor supply and factors influencing it
  • Understand factors that influence firms’ labor demand
  • Understand the importance of self-selection in determining labor market outcomes
  • Understand measures of wage and income inequality and recent trends and causes
Lehrinhalte (*)This course will give an understanding of some of the issues in contemporary labor economics, with an emphasis on the empirical side of the discipline. It will cover a mix of theoretical economics and econometric techniques. Topics covered include: introduction to empirical labor economics; labor supply and labor demand; self-selection; skills, tasks, and technology; trade and labor markets; discrimination and race; discrimination and gender
