Ziele (*)This course provides students with the knowledge base required to understand how an AFM works. They will be able to learn about the different imaging modes and gain a practical understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of these techniques. The following skills are conveyed in a practical training: 1. key components of AFM, understanding the feedback loop, principles of image optimization, resolution. 2. principles and practices of topographic imaging with the AFM: tapping mode and contact mode 3. artifacts in AFM imaging: tip-related artifacts, feedback-related artifacts, image processing
