Detailed information
Pre-requisites For safety reasons at least 25 ECTS verifiably from chemical practicals (laboratory courses with experimental activity of the student) or admission to the master curriculum Biological Chemistry ( positive completion of the "Organic chemistry laboratory bridge course " if this has been stipulated or is part of the curriculum variant) or admission to the master curriculum "Chemistry and Chemical Technolgy" or "Management in Chemical Technologies".
Original study plan Master's programme Biological Chemistry 2024W
Objectives This course provides students with the knowledge base required to understand how an AFM works. They will be able to learn about the different imaging modes and gain a practical understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of these techniques. The following skills are conveyed in a practical training: 1. key components of AFM, understanding the feedback loop, principles of image optimization, resolution. 2. principles and practices of topographic imaging with the AFM: tapping mode and contact mode 3. artifacts in AFM imaging: tip-related artifacts, feedback-related artifacts, image processing
