Objectives |
Upon completion of the course, student are able
- to comprehend the modeling of distributed parameter systems,
- to solve linear partial differential equations with constant coefficients,
- to analyze basic properties of the system classes considered,
- to design feedforward and feedback controllers for time-delay systems and simple linear partial differential equations, and
- to transfer methods discussed only for select examples to problems of comparable complexity.
The level of the mathematical methods used to describe the dynamic systems, to design the control laws and to synthesize the control circuits corresponds roughly to that in the textbooks D. Franke, Systeme mit verteilten Parametern, Springer Verlag, 1987; J. Rudolph, Flatness Based Control of Distributed Parameter Systems, Shaker Verlag, 2003; M. Krstic und A. Smyshlyaev, Boundary Control of PDEs, SIAM, 2008; E.C. Zachmanoglou und D.W. Thoe, Introduction to Partial Differential Equations with Applications, Dover Publications, 1986.
