Detailed information |
Original study plan |
Master's programme Mechanical Engineering 2023W |
Objectives |
After successfully engaging with the topics of this course, students will be able to
- comprehend the derivation of the equations of potential theory from the fundamental equations of inviscid stationary flows,
- solve two-dimensional flow problems using potential theory and sketch the resulting streamlines,
- comprehend the application of singularity methods on weakly disturbed parallel flows,
- understand the fundamentals of panel methods,
- understand the relevance of vortex theorems to aerodynamics,
- comprehend fundamental lifting line and wing theory and apply them to basic aerodynamic problems.
The level of mathematical modeling and analysis of the mentioned topics is comparable to the level of the textbooks: Spurk, Strömungslehre, Springer 2007 und Schlichting, Truckenbrodt, Aerodynamik des Flugzeuges, Spring 2001.
