Instructive and practically relevant exercises to familiarize the students with the concepts and the most important experimental and theoretical techniques in surface science.

As in the course, the exercises cover the following topics: 1) Introduction to vacuum technology and surface analytics, 2) Crystallography of surfaces and adsorbed layers and their characterization with diffraction techniques and scanning probe microscopy, 3) Electronic structure of surfaces.
