Objectives |
This course aims to give students of information electronics, as well as science and engineering in general, an introduction to the research field "gender and / in computer science". It also aims at enabeling students to reflect on the interrelationship between gender relations and technology development. It also aims at enhancing their gender competence as well as their social competence in general.

Subject |
The results of gender research, especially concerning the field of computer science and the professions in the field of information and communication technologies.
Didactics which recognizes the "diversity" of media biographies, styles of learning, and goals of learning.

Criteria for evaluation |
Presence, participation, präsentation and term paper.

Methods |
- Discussion of cutting edge theories of gender
- Discussion of theories of knowledge production and feminist theories concerning the development of technology, especially computer science.
- Reflection of research results concerning didactics in science and engineering and its contribution to sustain, reinforce or alter gender relations.
- Social competence as an essential part of gender competence: practical exercises and reflexion on presentation, communication and team work.
