Objectives The seminar teaches the indepth work with and discussion of theoretical texts, which offer an insight into different theoretical approaches and fundamentals in Sociology and convey the constitutive openess and the unfinished character of theoretical analyses of society. Students will learn about the crucial significance of working with theories and concepts for the Social Sciences.
Subject The focus of the seminar will be on topics and problems which are of great importance in current discussions in the Social Sciences (in particular in Sociology)as well as in actual social conflicts and debates. In particular questions of social dynamics and their future shaping through social actors are moved to the centreground.

  • regular attendance
  • participation in the discussions of the seminar
  • presentation of a text
  • exposè for a seminar paper for which a feedback will be given

  • joint indepth reading and dicussion of key passages of the literature in the seminar
