Objectives Lecture on physical fundamentals of mechatronics with selected topics from the fields of optics, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics and solid state physics as wave optics, interference, polarization, kinetic theory of gases, quantum phenomena, Schrödinger equation, Bloch theorem - Band structure, insulator - metal - semiconductor conductivity.

    3. Classical wave equation
  2. Optics
    1. Electromagnetic waves in vacuum
    2. Light in matter: the speed of light absorption, scattering

  3. Elements of quantum mechanics
    1. Heat radiation, Planck's constant, photon as a particle
    2. Wave - particle - dualism
    3. Uncertainty
    4. Stimulated emission and laser
    5. Basic concepts of quantum mechanics
    6. Atomic orbitals
    7. The hydrogen molecule ion
  4. Introduction to solid state physics
    1. Structure of solids
    2. Bloch theorem and the electron energy bands
