To provide basic concepts and knowledge about electronic systems where the carrier movement is restricted by potentials in one or more dimensions.

Electronic Density of States in low dimensional systems; wave functions and energy eigenvalues in quantum wells (2D), quantum wires (1D) and quantum dots (0D). Electronic transport and optical properties; practical realizations and applications of low-dimensional systems.
