To provide profound knowledge about characterization of materials using spectroscopic and x-ray scattering methods.

Interaction of electromagnetic radiation with condensed matter and resulting spectroscopic analysis methods: vibration (phonon) spectra, optical excitation and luminescence; Setup of spectrometers; Interaction of x-rays with matter: investigation of crystal lattice structure mainly considering nanostructures, using diffraction and reflectivity methods; spectroscopic methods using x-rays.
