Objectives Students acquire competencies in sustainability management, function-oriented life cycle analysis, global societal problem solving and gender equity. In addition, students become familiar with modern forms of teaching and learning based on hybrid approaches (e.g. blended learning, flipped class room). They apply their knowledge and skills in task-oriented, interdisciplinary learning projects (problem-based learning). In accordance with the theory of self-determination according to Deci and Ryan, the practical examination of the tasks set and the independent group work not only actively promote intrinsic motivation by actively adressing the psychological needs for "autonomy, social inclusion and experience of competence", but students also acquire social competencies as well as personal competencies, such as self-efficacy, self-determination, self-competence, initiative and performance competence, presentation and communication competence. Furthermore, selected digital key competencies enable students to better find their way in a digitalized environment and to actively participate in it.
