Detailed information
Original study plan Bachelor's programme Mechanical Engineering 2022W
Objectives Advanced knowledge of testing methods of metallic materials with emphasis on their mechanical properties. Identification of testing problems and selection of appropriate (standardized) testing methods for different groups of metallic materials and for different fields of application.
Subject
  • Mechanical-technological test methods (tensile test, compression test, torsion test, hardness test, notched-bar impact test, creep test, fatigue strength test)
  • Structural and microstructural analysis (metallography, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray fine structure analysis)
  • Non-destructive materials testing (radiographic testing methods, ultrasonic testing, magnetic and magneto-inductive testing methods)
Criteria for evaluation Written and oral exam
Methods Frontal teaching; explanation of the theoretical principles and presentation of application examples
Language German
