Detailed information
Original study plan Master's programme Mechatronics 2022W
Objectives The students know and understand the basics of digital image processing and the interaction of hardware and software components for image processing systems and can apply the acquired fundamental knowledge to more complex tasks and generalize the obtained results. They are able to

  • Analyze and evaluate image processing tasks
  • Understand methods and applications of image-based measurement techniques
  • Develop image processing applications using commercial software
Subject This combined course (KV) integrates theoretical principles with practical laboratory exercises. Theoretical topics include:

  • Fundamentals of image acquisition, image processing, and computer vision
  • Spatial and spectral domain image transformations
  • Image preprocessing and enhancement

Labs on the following topics

  • Segmentation of images
  • 3D acquisition of an object
  • Parameter Estimation, Motion Deblurring and

Image Stitching

Criteria for evaluation Written exam and/or oral exam as well as execution and documentation of the laboratory exercises; continuous assessment during labs
Methods Lecture with blackboard and slides as well as independent preparation and implementation of laboratory exercises
