Objectives Students will be able to apply microeconomic methods to evaluate the effects of public revenue and spending programmes on economic efficiency and distribution.
Subject The course provides an analysis of the effects of activities of the public sector on economic efficiency and redistribution. It consists of two parts: the first part on public spending covers, for example, the method of cost-benefit analysis and social security; the second part on public revenue covers, for example, the economic effects of the taxation of consumption, labor income, and capital income.
Criteria for evaluation Exam and participation in class.
