Objectives In this course the participants learn about Management Control Systems (MCSs), especially how to use, design and evaluate MCSs and what are the different components of a MCSs in Profit- and Non-profit Organizations. Students work independently on different topics. They work in groups and present the results in context of a course unit.

  • Definition of MCSs and theoretical framework
  • How to use, design and evaluate MCSs
  • Expending students’ knowledge about different parts of MCSs, especially Performance Measurement, Corporate Governance and situational influences on management
  • Differences and similarities of MCSs in Profit- and Non-Profit Organizations
