Objectives Students are prepared for independently authoring their master thesis. They choose a scientific problem in one of the major subjects of the master program, and are able to define the subject-specific and scientific value of their problem solution in the thesis. The seminar guides the writing and scientific approach of the graduate students.
Subject Academic writing, typical contents and structuring of scientific theses, scientific methods and techniques in the context of the master thesis, presentation of results, discussion and reflection of the presentations.
Criteria for evaluation Quality of presentations; progress of the master thesis; active participation in the discussion and reflection of other students' presentations.
Methods Scientific work on a topic in business informatics und writing of a master thesis. The students results are presented and thoroughly discussed in the course.
Language German
Study material While the basic literature is provided by the thesis advisor, students are expected to do an independent literature survey. The students are granted Access to common Digital Libraries (e.g., ACM, IEEE and SpringerLink), and may also utilize the reference libraries of the Departments of Business Informatics.

Further information Graduate students are supported in authoring their master thesis, in particular to optimize the written structure and the scientific approach. They present the intermediate and final results of their thesis.
