Objectives The students have knowledge of the foundations of international business and connected emerging issues such as the climate crisis and sustainability. They are able to understand which interdependent factors influence decision making in an international context by including the economic, political/legal, cultural, institutional and monetary/fiscal environments. They have extensive knowledge of working in an international, complex and dynamic business environment. They can make use of introduced analysis tools needed to deal with complex problems and decisions in international business and management.
Subject The following topics will be covered:

  • The international business environment
  • International trade
  • International competitiveness & sustainability
  • MNC strategies and organizational structure
  • Internationalization process of organizations
  • Internationalization models and different modes of international expansion
Criteria for evaluation Case study analyses, exercises, written exam
Methods Combination of lectures and applied discussions (simulations) of case studies and/or current events in international business are used to introduce students to the international business environment with its challenges, risks and opportunities. Attendance of all classes is expected for their whole duration.
