Master's programme Technical Physics 2020W
Objectives
Overview of important experimental methods of magnetometry. Understanding of the fundamental physical principles, fields of application, and complementary properties.
Subject
Experimental methods for the detection of magnetic properties of matter (fundamentla physical principle, technical realization, examples of application). The lecture treats standard methods (e.g. SQUID, XMCD, MOKE) as well as "novel" methods with outstanding properties (e.g. single spin detection).

Further information
As prerequisite for attending this lecture, we highly recommend the lecture "Magnetism".
Methods of magnetic resonance (ESR, NMR) are not discussed herein, but are treted in detail in the separate lecture "Ausgewählte Kapitel aus Nanoscience: Magnetresonanz".
